The wonder of film…

It’s stunned us since “The Birth of a Nation”, when audience members would leap screaming from their seats as a locomotive bore down upon them, seemingly threatening to explode out from the screen. It’s shocked us with attitudes once common but now abhorrent, such as the flagrant racism of – well, “The Birth of a Nation”. Even in the age of home entertainment, there’s nothing quite like a trip to the cinema. The patient waiting through trailers and adverts. The dimming of the lights. The slow drawing of the curtains from across the screen. The thrill of the fanfare, announcing that at last the film’s due to start. It’s usually glorious. But sometimes patience isn’t rewarded. Sometimes, expectations aren’t met by reality. When does the silver screen produce the steaming turd? When does “Hollywood magic” become “Hellish and tragic?”. If you can’t find the movie you wish to discuss, simply suggest a topic and we will get it onto the website as soon as possible.

There are some really good acts. The barbershop quartet style group and some of the dancers are all great to watch. Unfortunately there is always an overweight or ugly or shy chick with a school bullying sob story who can sing a bit that comes along to attempt to pluck at our heart strings. I can tell these moments are about to happen now because Simon Cowell will roll his eyes back and look fed up when they first appear on stage. But, then all of a sudden look amazed when he hears their voice. Theres a Susuan Boyle moment in most episodes now. I like BGT for the unique acts that just want to perform without all the sob story BS going on. "

@stebsb, Further to my final point - is it true that they're currently prepping "Bill & Ted 3"? "
If the Daybreak production crew have any sense, when Princess Kate gives birth they should have a photo of her carrying her baby with a miniature Aled Jones superimposed strolling along on top of him/her, boasting the headline "Walking on the Heir". "

Will.I.Am told Danny that the singer on stage was beautiful before Danny had turned his chair round. As soon as Danny heard this he decided to press the buzzer and spin round. This goes against the whole thing about it all being about the voice doesnt it ? "

Great fun, but Richard Hammond being too 'Richard Hammond' spoils any tv show. "

Surprising that Mama June bought a little screaming pig for Honey Boo Boo. Wouldnt this be like direct competition for her in the pagents ? "

Aled just needs to STFU. Stop butting in like a hyperactive child when Lorraine is chatting to a guest and ruining the flow of conversation. I wonder if one day Lorraine will turn to him and say 'Aled, adults are talking, now stop showing off and be quiet or go to your room.' "

Lorraines looks a bit pissed of now. The fake laughter getting more and more forced. Aled cant see it and i think her lack of amusement only spurs him on. "

I found it a struggle to be scared of the mighty Shadow as he stands across from his smaller, lighter, weaker opponent with an over sized cotton bud in his hand. "

Mama June needs subtitles too!! The size of her chin makes it quite hard for her to speak properly. Her mouth still works fine when meal time comes though and it hasnt got in the way of her eating. "

Brilliant kids tv show from back when health & safety wasnt a problem and neon gunge was thrown over kids for the hell of it. I recently saw an advertisement for re-runs of this showing Pat Sharp skateboarding into the studio to start the show!!. :D Not every tv presenter would agree to doing a stunt like this but i bet Pat Sharp demanded it!! "

Its all a bit of fun. Paddy loves to tease the girls all the time and the girls either love it or are too stupid to know whats going on. But everyone seems to have a good time regardless. I admit to being quite happy sitting at home on a Saturday and watching this for an hour. "

It was a little bit shitty but i dont see it being any worse than Brookside or Emmerdale was back then. "

To think, when i was young i watched a tv programme that featured a skinny wide eyed long haired man, dressed in a suit with an excitable Emu under his arm. In the programme the Emu would attack people and wrestle them to the ground for no reason at all. Oh and sometimes a fat green witch would arrive and start threatning kids with allsort of dark magic. But she would decide against any form of violence and instead have a little song and dance routine with them. Amazing. Kids these days dont know what they are missing. The generation that grew up with this really did have the craziest and best tv shows of any children. "

Once Trev and Simon stopped being funny i stopped watching. Seemed like it happened almost overnight. "

It made me sad seeing Henry Kelly in a suede dinner jacket and a bow tie. He really thought he looked amazing fronting the grand final of one of the greatest game shows ever made. When the truth was that the audience of over 80s didnt seem to notice and the two dozen viewers at home didnt care. All that effort for nothing. It makes me sad still now. "
